Did you realize that sitting in a chair is an act of faith? Well, it is. You believe in the truth that the chair will support your weight then you act! Your faith is then strengthened when you discover that each time you use a chair, it is reliable! Each time you tuck under your comforter to rest at night, you have faith the sun will rise in the morning. Each time you put your keys in the ignition, you have faith the engine will start. We live a faith centered life! I will share 2 quick stories, one about chairs, one about faith 🙂
Chairs. So we have the coolest dude we’re teaching- PHILLIP! He is amazing. We knocked on his door and he almost blew us off, but we worked hard to get a return appointment haha. The next time we came back, he had bought us the coolest folding chairs so that we could have a place to sit down and teach him the Lords ways! It was so thoughtful and was a huge act of faith on his part! Having faith that these two random chicks would come back and that he wanted to move forward in learning this truth! Turns out his dad was LDS and he has been wanting God back in his life! We have met with him a few times and he sat by us at church this Sunday and is just solid. LOVE HIM.
Faith. Christy is so inspiring. She has been reading the Book of Mormon every day and in our third lesson with her, she was testifying to us of the truth of this book. She said it brought a peace and power in her life that she had never experienced before. Everything has been changing for the better in her life-she got promoted at work after 3 days of reading it, she’s felt closer to her family, she feels in tune with God and overall feels more joy and energy. It was amazing to see the faith that woman had in the Savior and the reality of this restored truth! It built my faith to hear her pure testimony!
My invitation to all y’all this week is to sit in a chair. That’s easy enough, right? Think of ways you act in faith each day and what your faith is in and how it can grow. We often compare faith to a seed. We plant that seed which becomes a tree which we chop down to form a chair in which we act in faith by sitting in that chair and it reminds us to act in faith and plant more seeds! That is a stretch. it totally made sense in my mind haha have a stellar week! Remember- true faith is always centered on Jesus Christ!
Funny moments: When Jim was expressing his physical and financial struggles: “If only I could just be a mattress model. I could make bank for just laying down all day.”
Sister Thomas: “Do you have any filter whatsoever?” Me:”Dude, I have such a fine filter, you have no idea.” Sister Thomas “Your filter has very big holes in it… more like a wire fence!”
Last night when I poured some Life cereal in the dark and thought I added some cinnamon… nope, it was cumin. I tried to eat it anyway. Never again.
Sister Thomas always uses the analogy of, “Its like touching a hot iron, you don’t have to touch it to know it is hot.” Later that week, she touched a hot iron and got a gnarly burn, poor child.
