Carthage NY Week 48 – Give Someone a High Five

“As ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;  Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in…what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you. And now when the people had heard these words, they clapped their hands for joy, and exclaimed: This is the desire of our hearts.” -Mosiah 18

I have done a lot of repenting and humbling myself this week and it has been a week packed with miracles! LIKE SO MANY MIRACLES AHH! I wish I could tell you about all of them but neither of us have time for that. I wish I could testify of the enabling power of the atonement, the reality of Gods power and the incredible gift of repentance. I wish I could look each of you in the eyes and testify to you that GOD LIVES. I know that more now than I ever have. I have learned so much from the incredible people I have met this week. Devan, Domonick, Becca, Cody, Natasha, Daryl, Abraham, Nathanial, Danielle, Shelby, Chervana, Erin, Adam, Derik are just some of the incredible answers to prayers in my life! I will just share a handful! a happy moment a finger!

Happy moment 1(thumb)- God is so amazing. Yesterday and walking back to the car but we were like, wait, two more doors! So we did… and no one answered haha. But on the walk back, across the street there was this young man with surfer hair who was smoking. We started chatting with him. Come to find out he’s Mormon! He hasn’t prayed or stepped in a church for a good 9 years. At first he was saying that he was atheist, but with some inspired questions given to us by the Spirit, he realized that God really was there and he could recall some spiritual experiences in his life and he promised to pray that night. It was really wonderful. That is about the 5th Mormon we ran into who hasn’t been to church in forever. That strengthened my testimony that God is looking out for his children and guiding us in this work!

Happy moment 2(pointer finger)- God guided us to this guy’s door named Abraham. At first he was like “Look girls, I’m all set, I’m Roman Catholic and that’s not changing.” But again, as the spirit worked on him, he opened up and we ended up having a full lesson and answering lots of deep questions in his doorway for about an hour. Come to find out he had been suicidal a month earlier, going through a divorce, in the process of moving states and had a lot of problems with his religion and was searching for the truth. He is also getting a heart transplant next month and has a 50/50 chance of surviving. and he wasn’t some crazy compulsive liar! He was straight up serious. At the end, he said the sweetest prayer and thanked God for sending us to him that night. We saw him a couple days later and had another huge discussion. He had read from the Book of Mormon and had far more questions and we saw his faith in Christ build SO MUCH! It was incredible! He really wants to know if what we share is true and if it is he wants to be baptized and continue to learn and grow in the gospel. He is a literal saint.

Happy moment 3(middle finger… with the other fingers too. Not alone)- God has also helped us see a huge change in Shelby! She is married to a less active member and they have a cute little boy. At first when we met her, she was super closed off and would not have it haha but we had a solid lesson with her and they decided to come to church! They were 5 min away from the building when their car broke down and they had to get it towed etc 😦 But we are going over tonight for a FHE lesson! PUMPED! She has been through a lot and seriously needs the gospel! The Book of Mormon is hard for her to accept but she has soften her heart a lot as we have fasted and prayed for her! Fasting is powerful! It is real!

Happy moment 4(ring finger)- God showed His love through Chervana and Adam. Last night we had a powerful lesson with a cute young couple and their little baby! We knocked on their door earlier in the week and she texted us and asked if we could teach she and her husband and sister more! They fed us a delicious dinner and really want to be baptized and learn more. GOLDEN family. And his brother is Mormon! They just glow with the light of Christ and have been searching for truth in their lives. They kept commenting on how much peace they felt as we taught them! We could literally do nothing without the Holy Ghost!

Happy moment 5 (pinky!)- We went back to this cool yellow house in the country land to see if Carter and Daryl got to watch the rest of the DVD we left with them! They did! And they read the pamphlet as a family and really want to learn more! Also, turns out his wife was baptized Mormon! All these random Mormons! It is amazing but so weird to me because we are in upstate New York! Such a blessing. They seem rad.

In closing, I truly believe that the Lord gave us so many miracles and blessings because we were striving to repent and turn our hearts to His. As we are humble, the Lord can work through us.

I invite you to give someone a high five! Tell them, “Good job, you’re awesome, I love you, you are wonderful, thank you for being in my life.” Be happy and joyful in others success! You can even list all the reasons you love them on each of your fingers (and toes if you run out of space). Give God a high five and thank Him for being so awesome and for granting you daily breath and life itself. As you rejoice with others, you will feel better understood and loved. As you friendship others, you will never be lonely, you will find friends. As you love others, you will always feel loved. I love you all so much! Thanks for being awesome! *air five*
