“And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” -1 Nephi 3:7
We have seen insane miracles this week my brothers and sisters! We have seen hearts soften, repentant souls and we have been guided to 11 new investigators this week- most of whom are young families! I am filled with gratitude and joy! SO MUCH JOY. I have learned from all these experiences, that when life is tough, ya just got to do it. Just go out there and shred it up!
The day after emailing last week, we met with Greg and Camille. We knocked on Greg’s door a few days earlier and he said we could come back later next week because he was sick. I had a subtle feeling like we needed to go over there right then. We did and it turned out to be the only day and time Camille had off work that week! They invited us in and we all sat in a circle in their living room- Indian style. Greg had read the entire pamphlet and had tons of AWESOME questions for us! Really deep ones haha again, the spirit overcame me and I was guided to a verse in the Book of Mormon for almost every question he had! That was also a miracle haha. Sister Rodriguez shared a powerful testimony of the first vision- straight FIRE and how it has blessed her life. It was amazing to see their eyes light up and see the wheels turning in their beautiful minds! On the way to the car after, sister Rodriguez said, “Can you spell Elect?” they truly are elect!
Updates on those we met last week- we ended up meeting Wendy’s family! We have been over a couple times to teach them and they look forward to baptism! They are SO COOL! We are focusing on Sana and Rashawn- 15 and 17yrs old. They really desire to know who God is and have a better life. Also, turns out they are cousins with one of the young woman who was baptized a couple years ago! Crazy! It was so fun watching the Restoration DVD with them and kneeling in a circle, teaching them how to pray, one by one. I love them so much! Update on Nicolas (son with the cowboy boots) Sister Clover drove us to their house and joined us in a great lesson with them! I am excited to start meeting with them! Very intelligent, kind people!
The other night it was super dark and snowy and we were tracting. We were having no luck and it was getting late. We decided to go back, but the words written in the book “Jesus the Christ” that my father had written in on his mission came to my mind. “Knock two more doors every time you say it’s time to go.” We did that. First door-nothing. Second door-ANGEL. Jade is this super incredible woman in her early 20s. She lives with her mom and 5 younger siblings and baby boy. She just moved in a month ago and has a deep love of Christ and has been looking for a church to join that she can raise her son in. She got so excited about the Book of Mormon and asked when we could come back and share more. She is already one of my favorite humans. She has been through lots of medical issues, but sees it as a way to help others through similar pains. She is a great role model to me. I just love the people here so much. The more I get to know them, think about them and pray for them, the more that love grows (which I can’t believe is even possible). I feel so honored to be a missionary and share this truth with my familia! It can seem like an impossible task to bring others to the light of the gospel. Luckily it is the Spirit that converts people, not us. As we get off our butts, turn off our phones and really connect with people- look in their eyes and really pray for charity towards them- we will know what to say and we will find joy in sharing it. We will see many souls brought to the knowledge of the gospel through our efforts. We just got to do it.
So “JUST DO IT”. Don’t let your dreams be dreams. Yesterday, you said tomorrow, so just do it. Just follow that little voice telling you to get over yourself and reach out to others in service. The spirit will always guide us to do good. You will be given success. I love you all ❤
