Manchester VT Week 42 – Find the One

I testify that God, the Eternal Father does live! I testify that He is aware of our weakness, pain, sins, struggles, addictions, sicknesses, worries, thoughts, dreams, joys, hopes, desires and hearts. He knows us so intimately and deeply. He want’s us to overcome the bad in life and enjoy the good. He is constantly there to provide aid and support. The enabling grace of Christ is always there to draw from. This does not mean things will be easy-quite the contrary! We are here to grow to progress and things will be difficult. This week has been one of my favorite weeks on the mission and possibly the most difficult. I become increasingly more in love with the work and the ministry, and at the same time it feels as if the work becomes increasingly challenging. One of our newer investigators was stabbed to death- sweet little Hellen. As a result many have called the church and police complaining about us knocking doors in Arlington and we can no longer tract once it gets dark. After exchanges, we found a huge dent in our car with no note and will be without a car for several days while it gets repaired. We had 6 awesome people working towards specific baptism dates last week. This week we have 1. I am so grateful for that one! We have had to let some go who weren’t keeping commitments and many others let us know they are no longer interested and are pretty much starting from scratch again. We have just about completed the area book (trying former investigators, potentials, less active members etc.) and through those efforts, have found several new awesome people to teach! The struggle is helping them progress haha but we have great faith in this neck of the woods we’re at! President suggested thinking about working in part of the elders area and picking up some people they are teaching. As we prayed about it, a line from Horton hears a who popped in my mind randomly which says, “We are here! We are here! We are here!” I know there are people in this area that are prepared for this incredible message of the Savior! As tempting as it is to travel to an area of more poverty and population, I know that the Lord has called us here for a divine reason and we will find that person or those people who need Christ in their lives! They are here! We have seen many blessing! The Lord is so good and so aware of our needs! He has set the perfect example for us of reaching out to the ONE. The one I was prompted to reach out to Sunday morning was Dre. He is a college student here from Alabama who is 18 and just he and his mother are members. We went with the Brownlees to pick him up and got lost along the way- making us late for church. We missed the sacrament and it was the worst feeling ever. I did not know what a difference taking the sacrament made until I missed it! Luckily, Eric looked out for us and had us partake of it after the meeting. As I took the bread and water I felt a huge burden lifted. That was the Savior looking out for me. I know there is one person each day that really needs you, just as that little colony of Who’s needed Horton.

Find the one. Listen to the voice that shouts out, “I am here!” pray to find that one and look for him/her. They are there! They need you! Only you can help them! I know as you prayerfully seek those who need you, the Lord will guide you to them and by blessing them, you yourself will be blessed. I love my Savior. He will always leave the 99 and go after the one.
