A man named Naama had leprosy. He traveled to the prophet and told him he would do anything to be cleansed from his disease. The prophet told him to bathe in the river 7 times. Naama was angry and refused to do something so silly and seemingly simple. But his servant counseled him saying: “My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some greatthing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” We could liken this story to our lives in so many ways. I would like to focus on how we can develop greater peace and unity in our homes through doing the simple, easy, consistent things the Lord has asked us to do! How many of us think “I would give anything for my family! I would die for them” but we fail to do those little things that really save our families spiritually. The basic C.P.R. principle of going to church, praying as a family and studying the scriptures together seems almost too easy to really make a difference. IT DOES! Are we willing to sacrifice those ten minutes on Instagram or in front of the T.V. to spiritually connect to our loved ones? Every day I hear, “We simply don’t have time.” I suggest we make time! The results are so great! Try and see. Now, just as Naaman had to bathe 7 times before being cleansed, it may take time to see the great blessings, but we will see them! Because doing these 3 simple things turns our hearts to our Creator, we are literally repenting. In doing so, we are sanctified and purified! We will receive special blessings that come to those who are endowed with the Holy Ghost! It is so very enabling! Time and time again I have felt the enabling power of the spirit as I have focused on Sabbath day worship, poured out my heart to my Heavenly Father and studied the teachings of Christ. It has guided me in all I do! We have been guided to some incredible families and couples this week! It is no accident we have met these sweet spirits, so ready for the gospel. We see the hand of the Lord in every aspect of the work! It makes me so happy meeting these families- Matt and Melissa and Barry, Melody and her kids, Shanya and John, June and Nick, Michelle and her children etc. I love teaching the children to pray and having the moms read verses of scripture to their children! I love sitting next to Amanda and Nelson and baby Bella in church and singing hymns together! Nothing brings me greater joy! I am so grateful for my saintly mother and father who always made Christ the center of our home. God bless them both. The greatest, most joyful part of a mission is seeing people develop a relationship with the Savior. The hardest part has been seeing people reject Him and choose to remain miserable and unhappy. I continue to grow and learn about Gods plan of Happiness each and every day.
I challenge each of you to wash in the river 7 times by doing the little things. The Lord promises great results to those individuals and families who do the simple things He’s asked. I am a witness of those great results! I enjoy the guidance and comfort of the Holy Ghost on a daily basis! I know my Savior loves me and I have purpose and direction in my life! EVERYONE can experience this, regardless of the past and their situation! That is the great promise of our loving God!
I love you all! I haven’t gotten through all the thank you letters yet, so if you haven’t gotten one, you will in the next couple months! ❤
